Rep. Cline Votes Against Continuing Resolution

Today, Congressman Ben Cline (VA-06) voted against the Continuing Resolution passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, which extends the government funding deadline from the original date of December 16th to December 23rd. Passage of this spending bill will enable the Democrat Majority to buy additional time for a massive lame-duck spending bill in which House Republicans have had no seat at the negotiating table.

“The one-week continuing resolution is the Democrats’ last-ditch effort to jam a monstrous $1.7 TRILLION lame-duck omnibus before Christmas, and push more of their radical agenda and fiscal failures before their one-party control runs out,” Cline said. “This bill is a green light to keep the inflation-bomb deficit spending going that has hurt families and businesses. We should be passing a continuing resolution into next year, instead of buying more time to rush through a massive spending package that will skyrocket our Nation’s debt even more. Republicans should not give the Biden Administration one more vote to take another penny from hardworking taxpayers, and continue the reckless Pelosi-Schumer spending spree.”

Congressman Ben Cline represents the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia. He previously was an attorney in private practice and served both as an assistant prosecutor and Member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Cline and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Botetourt County with their two children.
