PENN LAIRD — Rockingham County joined the growing number of localities in the state to become a Second Amendment sanctuary Wednesday after the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously in support of the resolution. Supervisors were joined by a crowd of more than 3,000 people inside the Spotswood High School gymnasium. The standing-room only crowd also spilled into the commons area of the school "There was probably 4,000 people there," said Supervisor Rick Chandler, who represents District 3. When Supervisors arrived at Spotswood, there were more than 60 people signed up to speak during the public comment period. Only 20 spoke before Supervisor Mike Breeden closed the public comment period to allow the board to take action. |
