Congressman Cline Announces Partnership with James Madison University to Participate in Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project

On Thursday, Congressman Ben Cline (R-VA) announced his office will be teaming with James Madison University to participate in the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project.

The Veterans History Project collects, preserves, and makes accessible the firsthand accounts of American wartime veterans so that future generations may learn about veterans’ experiences in their own words to better understand the realities of war.

American war veterans who reside in Virginia’s Sixth Congressional District are encouraged to register to be interviewed for the Veterans History Project.

After an interview is completed, it is archived with the Library of Congress and made available for all citizens to watch and learn about the service and sacrifices of these courageous men and women.

“Our veterans are a national treasure,” Congressman Ben Cline said. Each one answered the call to service and any effort to collect and preserve their stories is a needed and worthy cause. It’s great to have institutions like JMU in Virginia’s Sixth Congressional District, for they consistently go beyond what is required or even expected of them to serve both their veteran and military connected students. With over 18,000 Veterans calling the Sixth Congressional District home, this initiative will help ensure our veterans’ legacies and the stories of their sacrifice to our country is preserved for generations to come.”

Congressman Ben Cline represents the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia. He previously was an attorney in private practice and served both as an assistant prosecutor and Member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Cline and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Botetourt County with their two children.
