Congressman Cline Appointed to the Bipartisan House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Speaker Mike Johnson appointed Congressman Ben Cline (R-VA) to the newly created bipartisan House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The goal of the Task Force is to explore how Congress can ensure America continues to lead the world in AI innovation while considering guardrails that may be appropriate to safeguard the nation against current and emerging threats.

"I'm honored to serve on the House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence. This initiative truly speaks to the proactive approach we need to maintain America's leadership in tech innovation," Rep Cline said. "Artificial Intelligence is a key driver of future economic growth and a tool that we must handle with intentional stewardship. As global competitors, especially those with adversarial intentions, push the boundaries of AI, we must innovate and thoughtfully navigate the ramifications for our national security, citizen privacy, and the backbone of our economy. Working alongside my colleagues, I am committed to diving into the nuanced aspects of AI and striving for policies that govern its use in a way that ensures it is a force for good—for our people and our country. Thank you to Speaker Johnson for this privilege, as we stand at the precipice of new technological eras."

Speaker Johnson and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries appointed twenty-four members to the Task Force which will be jointly led by Chair Jay Obernolte (CA-23) and Co-Chair Ted Lieu (CA-36).
