Congressman Ben Cline (VA-06) announced his appointment to several House subcommittees Tuesday (January 29) which will benefit the people of the Sixth Congressional District.

Cline will serve on the following subcommittees:

  • House Committee on Education & Labor
    • Subcommittee on Workforce Protection
    • Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Investment
  • House Judiciary Committee
    • Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties
    • Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet
    • Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security

The Sixth Congressional District is home to more than 20 colleges and universities, more than almost any other congressional district in the country.

Congressman Cline served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for Harrisonburg and Rockingham County from 2007 to 2013, then opened his own law practice. He was previously Chair of the Militia, Police, and Public Safety Committee in the Virginia House of Delegates, where he also served on the Courts of Justice, Finance, and Commerce and Labor Committees.

"These subcommittee assignments give the people of Virginia's Sixth Congressional District a voice in some of the most important issues of the 21st century," Cline said. "Through work on these subcommittees, I will stand up for our Constitutional rights, a free and open Internet, and more access to not only higher education, but also expanding opportunity for workforce education. I thank Ranking Members Foxx and Collins for the opportunity to represent Virginia's Sixth on these important subcommittees. I look forward to the work ahead."

"I'm very pleased to welcome Congressman Ben Cline to the Committee on Education and Labor," Ranking Member Virginia Foxx (NC-05) said. "I am certain Rep. Cline will be a valuable new addition to the committee as Republicans continue our hard work on behalf of America's families, students, and workers."

"It's an honor to welcome new members, including Congressman Ben Cline, to the committee and to get to work advancing the conservative priorities that lie before us," Ranking Member Doug Collins (GA-08) said. "Congressman Cline's experience as a prosecutor, as an attorney, and in the Virginia House of Delegates will be an asset as we fight overreach and safeguard Americans' fundamental liberties."

Cline became the 35th Congressman to represent the Sixth District of Virginia in 2019. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Cline lives in Rockbridge County with his wife and twin daughters.
